NOTE: We do not receive position points every day. Some position points are provide to STC by researchers and are posted on the maps as soon as STC receives them. There may be times during the study when there are no new points for several weeks. This is most likely the result of the sea turtle not staying at the surface long enough for the transmitter to be picked up by satellites. It takes several satellites to pick up the location of a transmitter and the transmitter antenna needs to be out of the water long enough for the satellites to pick up the signal. We will continue to post new positions as soon as we receive them.
