GAINESVILLE, FL – Each year, Sea Turtle Conservancy staff receives hundreds of calls and emails from members and supporters asking how they can do more to help. This Earth Day, STC is sharing 5 easy ways to get involved and make a difference.

Take a pledge to do one or more of these simple acts on Earth Day and let everyone know how you are helping to save sea turtles!

1. Go Social

      Like Sea Turtle Conservancy on

Facebook

      or follow us on Twitter

@conserveturtles

      and let us know why sea turtles are special to you. Then, share it with your friends to help spread the word about sea turtles on Earth Day!

2. Commit to One Good Deed

      Consider organizing an Earth Day clean-up at your local beach, school yard or neighborhood park. Or think about boycotting plastic bags and switching to cloth bags. In the U.S. alone, approximately 60,000 plastic bags are used every five seconds, and most end up in landfills or out in the ocean.

3. Attend an Earth Day Activity

      Organizations across the country organize local Earth Day activities every year. Visit

Earth Day Network’s website

      for a list of events in your area. Check out a couple of STC suggestions on the left.

4. Get Creative

      STC is hosting the first Tour de Turtles T-shirt Contest, and we are inviting artists of all ages and skill levels to submit their design ideas for a chance to be featured on the back of the 2012 Tour de Turtles shirts.
